IAH Chauffeur Pickup Guide
A current planning guide to IAH chauffeur pickups, terminal meeting areas, international arrivals and information to send your driver before landing.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport is one of the most important pickup points in Houston, but an IAH chauffeur pickup is not simply “meet outside the terminal.” The correct meeting point depends on the arriving terminal, whether the passenger is using a private car or a licensed limousine/sedan service, international-arrivals routing, and temporary airport traffic controls.
This guide explains how to prepare for a prearranged chauffeured pickup and what information to send before the aircraft lands. Airport rules and construction conditions can change, so the official Houston Airports pages and the chauffeur’s same-day instructions should always take priority over an old screenshot or saved terminal map.
What should you send your chauffeur before landing?
A complete airport reservation should include:
- airline and flight number;
- scheduled arrival date and time;
- passenger name and mobile number;
- number of travelers;
- checked bags, carry-ons and oversized luggage;
- child-seat or mobility requirements;
- final destination and any planned stop;
- whether the arriving passenger is international.
The flight number matters because it lets dispatch work from the actual arrival rather than a guessed terminal. Airlines can use different terminals, gates can change, and a traveler may not exit the airport at the place a family member remembers from a previous trip.
For AK Prestige service, start with the IAH airport car service page or request the exact route through online booking.
Current IAH limousine and sedan meeting areas
Houston Airports currently tells passengers using limousine and sedan service to meet the driver in these areas:
| Terminal | Current limousine/sedan guidance |
|---|---|
| Terminal A | Limo Reception Area in Baggage Claim |
| Terminal C | Baggage Claim |
| Terminal D international arrivals | Passengers proceed through Customs and Immigration to the Terminal E international-arrivals hall |
| Terminal E | West side, Door 103 |
Houston Airports also tells travelers to follow the Ground Transportation signs and exits marked for limousines or limos. Check the official IAH Limousines and Sedans page before travel because airport operations can change.
Private-car pickup doors are not always the limousine meeting point
IAH also publishes curb locations for ordinary private-car passenger pickup. Those currently include Door A-113 on the north side of Terminal A, C-102 on the north side of Terminal C, and the Terminal E passenger-pickup area around Door E-103/103B, depending on the airport’s current traffic plan.
That distinction matters. A licensed prearranged chauffeur may be operating under airport limousine rules rather than the same curb instructions used by a friend or family member picking someone up. Follow the instructions for the transportation service you actually booked instead of walking to a rideshare, taxi or private-car zone automatically.
Houston Airports maintains the current IAH Pick Up / Drop Off page for passenger-curb information.
Terminal E construction can change the chauffeur process
Houston Airports currently warns limousine drivers that Terminal E construction can affect where chauffeurs stage and how they access the international-arrivals area. Its driver-information page says limousine drivers picking up Terminal E passengers may need to use the Terminal C limousine parking area because space at the temporary arrivals curb is limited.
That is a good example of why a chauffeur can be physically close to the airport while still being unable to drive directly to the passenger’s exact door at that moment. Large airports use controlled staging areas to keep terminal traffic moving.
Passengers should keep their phone available after collecting baggage and follow the live meeting instructions instead of changing terminals or pickup zones without telling the chauffeur. See Houston Airports’ current driver information for construction-related operating guidance.
What happens after an international arrival?
Passengers arriving internationally should allow time for deplaning, passport processing, baggage claim and Customs. Houston Airports notes that international passengers arriving at Terminal D proceed to the Terminal E international-arrivals hall after Customs and Immigration.
If several travelers are arriving on different international flights, do not assume they will all be curb-ready at the same time. For a corporate group or family, provide each flight number and identify the person who will communicate with dispatch when the group is assembled.
Why the chauffeur cannot wait indefinitely at the curb
Houston Airports does not permit vehicles to park and wait at passenger curbs. The airport uses designated staging, parking and pickup areas so stopped vehicles do not block active loading lanes.
For the passenger, that means “my driver is here” may mean the chauffeur is staged in the authorized area and will move into the pickup sequence when the passenger is ready and airport traffic permits. Calling the driver before walking to a different zone usually creates a smoother pickup than trying to find the vehicle by sight in moving airport traffic.
IAH pickup for executives and corporate travelers
For executive travel, build the ground plan around the full schedule rather than only the airport leg. Include the hotel, office, meeting location and any dinner or second stop when booking. If the traveler has several commitments, hourly chauffeur service can keep one vehicle assigned through the confirmed itinerary.
Visitors attending an energy, petrochemical or engineering meeting can also review AK Prestige’s Houston oil and gas executive transportation and Houston EPC and engineering transportation pages.
IAH pickup for cruise passengers
Cruise travelers should provide both flight and sailing information because luggage volume and timing are different from a normal airport transfer. The dedicated IAH to Galveston cruise-port guide explains route planning, baggage and embarkation-day considerations.
Before you leave the aircraft
A simple IAH chauffeur checklist is:
- Keep the phone number used for the reservation turned on.
- Do not walk to a rideshare zone unless your chauffeur specifically directs you there.
- Collect all checked luggage before reporting that you are ready.
- Tell the chauffeur if Customs, baggage or mobility assistance is delaying you.
- Confirm the terminal/door or indoor meeting point in the current message from dispatch.
- If airport staff redirect foot traffic, tell the chauffeur before changing locations.
Use current airport information on the day of travel
Terminal construction, lane closures and airport operating procedures can change faster than a travel article can be updated. This page is reviewed periodically, but Houston Airports remains the authoritative source for terminal operating rules.
AK Prestige Transportation provides prearranged IAH airport chauffeur service throughout Greater Houston. A reservation is confirmed only after dispatch reviews the itinerary, passenger and luggage requirements, and vehicle availability.
